Our techs will perform an on-site inspection using high-powered fluorescent black lights to identify locations where accidents have occured. Just because an area illuminates under a black light doesn't necessarily mean that the area is creating an odor. We take it a step further and use a urine probe to determine if the damage is significant enough to cause odor in your home. Urine in substantial amounts can cause odors years after the pet is out of the home. This is because it contains salts and other waste products that are too heavy to evaporate. This means that while the area seems dry to the touch, beneath the carpet can have salts that draw humidity from the air creating a perfect environment for bacteria to grow. When this happens, the only way to remove the odor is to remove the source of that odor.
